Maureen Mallon, OSCR's Chief Executive
OSCR’s Chief Executive, Maureen Mallon, will retire at the end of June 2024.
Making the announcement, Marieke Dwarshuis, Chair of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) said:
"We are immensely grateful to Maureen Mallon for her dedicated work over the past five years. During this time, she has led the organisation successfully through a period of tremendous challenge, including overseeing a successful restructure of our operations and guiding us though the COVID-19 pandemic, all of which has helped us to emerge stronger and ready for the next chapter of OSCR’s story.
"We began the process to find a new CEO last year. I’m grateful for the positive contributions of all the staff, board members and others who have supported a thorough and challenging recruitment process over the past few months.
"Now that this process has concluded, I’m delighted to be able to announce that we have appointed Katriona Carmichael as OSCR’s next Chief Executive Officer. Katriona will be joining us from the Environment & Forestry Directorate of the Scottish Government, where she is currently the Deputy Director for Circular Economy.
"Katriona has significant experience in leadership roles within the public sector, and particularly impressed the interview and staff engagement panels with her communication and leadership skills, her passion for the role at OSCR as well as for the charity sector and her clear understanding of the positive impact of regulation done well.
"Maureen Mallon will continue in post until the end of June 2024, with Katriona Carmichael assuming the role of CEO on 1 July.
"I know that our staff and board members, and indeed the wider charity sector in Scotland, will join with me in wishing Maureen a long and happy retirement, and in providing Katriona with a warm welcome when she takes up her post in July."
