VIDEO: How does OSCR handle concerns about Scottish charities?

Part of our role as the Scottish Charity Regulator is to hold charities to account and ensure they are well-run so that the public have trust and confidence in charities.

As part of this work, OSCR assesses all the concerns we receive about Scottish charities, and then open an inquiry when this is appropriate.

In this video, Laura Anderson (OSCR’s Senior Manager of Higher Risk Cases & Quality Assurance) discusses OSCR’s inquiries in practice and how we handle concerns.

Laura explains:

  • How do you raise a concern or make a complaint about a Scottish charity?
  • What happens once OSCR receives a concern about a charity?
  • How does OSCR assess the concerns we receive about charities?
  • How does OSCR start an inquiry into a charity and gather information?
  • How does OSCR decide what response or action is required at the end of an inquiry?
  • When does OSCR publish an inquiry report into a charity?
