The Charity Finance Group (CFG) has launched its 2026 Banking Survey to refresh the data it collects on charities’ experiences of banking services.
The findings of its last survey in 2024 were reported in Charity Banking Challenges 2024 and helped to inform its practical toolkit Communicating with Your Bank. Building on those findings, CFG is keen to understand where progress has been made, where challenges persist and where issues may have worsened. Data collected from the survey helps to identify areas that require further action from banks, charities and regulators.
The 2026 survey also aims to understand how environmental, ethical, sustainability and governance considerations influence charity banking decisions. It explores what motivates charities to change banks and what barriers they encounter.
Responses are treated confidentially and are used in aggregate to demonstrate sector-wide trends. Having robust data assists CFG’s policy and sector advocacy work and is powerful tool in its conversations with government and policy makers.
Nearly 2,000 charities responded to the last UK-wide survey, including 270 from Scotland. CFG is aiming to increase that number this time around. The survey is open until 20 April.
