Purposes 4 The SCIO's purpose is for the benefit of the public: (i) to advance the citizenship and community development of the village of Inveresk, by improving and maintaining the amenity thereof, and promoting activities and events for the benefit of the residents/citizens of Inveresk.
Operations:
What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
The Society supports village-wide events where residents and guests gather for social and philanthropic purposes, e.g we held a Christmas outdoor gathering. During the summer, we also support other village event such as Open Gardens which raised money for three charities. Many members of the Society supported a local initiative to remove giant hogweed from the area. As a group we also continue to have strong links with CAPP, Musselburgh & Inveresk Community Council, and Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. We also supported a Community Speed Watch programme by supporting the purchase of kit, and several residents of the village are involved in the initiative to increase safety in the area by reducing speeding through the village. Newsletters are distributed to all houses in Inveresk twice a year at least.
