4 The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 The purpose and objectives of the Organisation shall be to promote, maintain, improve and advance education particularly by promoting and encouraging the study, practice and knowledge of the arts, especially folk music. 4.2 For these purposes the Organisation shall:- Organize, promote, manage and conduct a Festival of traditional and contemporary music each year during July in and around Stonehaven; said festival would typically include but would not necessarily be limited to 4.2.1 a range of concerts lectures and workshops on various “folk music” related activities 4.2.2 Informal “sessions” where singers, musicians and the public can meet and play together, thereby raising the public’s awareness of “folk music” and fostering good relations with the citizens of Stonehaven 4.3 From time to time, as decided by the management committee, award scholarships, sponsor or otherwise support individuals or Organisations in the community in the furtherance of the purpose and objectives. 4.4 These activities will serve to: 4.4.1 promote the appreciation and preservation of folk music; 4.4.2 encourage youth participation in, and attendance at, the Festival; 4.4.3 promote new talent; and 4.4.4 encourage active participation in musical activities.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.
