4 The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 To advance public education in the classical teachings of yoga based upon the principles of the highest standards of personal conduct and service to others. 4.2 To promote and advance the study and practice of, and research into, the therapeutic effects of yoga as a means of improving mental, physical and spiritual health. Our teachers will train with other Yoga practitioners from around the world to develop their practise and knowledge, study the ancient texts and recent scientific journals for Yoga and health and use the outcomes of the research to lead classes, workshops and seminars to local, regional and national communities and groups. 4.3 To promote the lifestyle teachings of the Yoga culture - mindfulness, compassion, selflessness, respect, discipline and positivity – to encourage and promote citizenship and to foster a strong community. Yogic philosophy includes ethical codes (It places highly virtues of selflessness, non-attachment, honesty, trust, kindness and a strong focus on the worth of every living being) in which individuals interact with their environments and community circles they are part of (Home, work, and social networks). By educating in these roles and practicing these during our sessions we create an atmosphere of respect, trust and selflessness. 4.4 To increase the level of participation in physical exercise through Yoga, recognised by Sports Scotland. Yoga is a highly skilled and articulate physical and dynamic practices as well as being a meditative and restorative form of exercise. The physical exertion aspect of yoga is compared to acrobatics, gymnastics and dance movement and it is recognised as a formal strenuous exercise by training athletes and sportsman. Basic and sedate classes are used to introduce the practise of Yoga to beginners as well as for the infirm, aged, rehabilitation purposes and for those developing skills and confidence to adopt a more athletic and exerting practise. 4.5 To provide a specific space and environment for the participation of these activities with facilities to encourage engagement, enhancement and the development of the mental and physical wellbeing of individual participants, groups and communities from beginner to professional of all age groups.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
Heart Space is Dundee's only charitable Yoga studio that offers more than 50 classes a week to people of all ages and abilities with 1/3 of this offering being free community classes and our Pay What You Can donation model. It is our firm belief that anyone can do yoga and we pride ourselves in having a wide range of classes that will meet people wherever they are on their health and well-being journey.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.
