The new Charities Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities (‘the SORP’) was published on 31 October 2025. This new accounting framework helps to ensure charities’ financial reporting requirements are more proportionate to their size.

Charities preparing their annual report and accounts in line with the SORP, and their advisors, will need to ensure they are familiar with what is different in the SORP and understand the practical implications for the accounts they will prepare in the future.

On 20 November 2025, we held a webinar to help charities prepare for this change. The Joint Chairs of the Charities SORP Committee explained more about what the key changes are, the reasons for the changes and how the SORP aims to support preparers of charity accounts in meeting relevant requirements.
