New OSCR Online features make charity trustee submissions easier

As of 30 June 2025, all Scottish charities are required to submit charity trustee information using OSCR Online. The response so far has been encouraging, with over 3,500 charities already providing their trustee details.

To support charities in meeting this requirement, we’ve just introduced two key improvements to OSCR Online. These updates make it easier to submit information for:

  • Charity trustees based outside the UK
  • Organisations acting as charity trustees

Read on to learn more about these changes.

Charity trustees based outside the UK

Charities can now easily enter details for charity trustees who live abroad. Previously, non-UK postcodes and phone numbers caused issues during submission. With this update, users can simply indicate when a charity trustee is based outside the UK, allowing for smooth and accurate data entry.

Organisations acting as charity trustees

In some cases, an organisation, such as a law firm or a Bank may act as a charity trustee. These are known as corporate trustees. OSCR Online now includes a dedicated option to select an organisation as a charity trustee. Once selected, users can enter all relevant organisational details, ensuring clarity and compliance.
