Improvement to the Record of Removed Persons search

Following some recent feedback, we have made a small improvement to the Record of Removed Persons search on our website.

Previously, when a search returned no results (for example when the person searched for is not in the Record of Removed Persons), the search displayed a message showing “0 results”.

Now, the search displays a more detailed message which shows:

  • 0 results returned
  • The term searched for
  • The date and time of the search

Charity trustees can now screenshot the search, including the name searched for and the time they carried out the search, as evidence that a search for an individual has been carried out.

This small change will help Scottish charities to do their due diligence and act as a reminder to regularly review charity trustees' eligibility.

As before, a search for an individual who does appear in the Record of Removed Persons will display their name, the name of the charity, the date of the order, and whether or not a waiver applies.

You can search the Record of Removed Persons here: OSCR | Record of Removed Persons

Remember, the Record of Removed Persons only shows individuals who have been removed from being concerned in the management and control of a charity or body by the Court of Session. There are other criteria which also disqualify individuals from acting as charity trustees.

More information about the full disqualification criteria can be found here.
