I direct my Trustees to hold and apply the residue of my estate (hereinafter called "the Trust Fund") for the following purposes and in accordance with the following provisions: For payment or application of the revenue of the Trust Fund or such portion thereof as my Trustees shall from time to time in their sole discretion think fit to or for the benefit, support or constitution of any charitable, cultural, educational and community funds, organisations, societies, schemes or activities for:- (i) the promotion, encouragement and development of the study and knowledge in the United Kingdom, (and Scotland in particular), of the nature, use, applications and conservation of all types of energy and all matters related to energy for the benefit of the community; (ii) the presentation, production, promotion, organisation, management and conduct of any such educational lectures, programmes, classes, debates, courses of instruction, conferences, libraries, exhibitions and other forms of inculcating and disseminating knowledge as my Trustees may think fit and the compilation, printing, production, editing and publication of such periodical and other publication and works as my Trustees shall think fit and in connection with such educational lectures, programmes, classes, debates, courses of instruction, conferences, libraries or exhibitions as aforesaid the fixing and charging of such reasonable charges, fees and prices (if any) as my Trustees may think fit for admission and the like or for the sale of any publications or material; (iii) the establishing, maintaining and awarding of scholarships, fellowships, chairs and grants at schools, universities and institutions upon such terms and conditions as my Trustees may think fit;

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
