The organisation's purposes are: (a) The Advancement of Public Participation in Sport: By providing public benefit by increasing opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport and physical activity, particularly focusing on organised ice hockey and related entry-level activities such as ball hockey, street hockey, and other forms of hockey that encourage progression into the sport. By delivering accessible programmes, training, events, education, leadership development, and advocacy, the charity will work to remove barriers to participation, including financial, cultural, social, geographical, confidence, and accessibility barriers. The Foundation will promote lifelong engagement in physical activity and sport, improving physical and mental health and wellbeing while developing sporting skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a sense of personal achievement. We will also advance equality of opportunity within sport by creating inclusive environments that support women and girls, particularly those from groups traditionally underrepresented in sporting participation. (b) The Advancement of Health The HER Foundation Scotland will provide public benefit by improving the physical health, mental wellbeing, resilience, confidence, and self-esteem of women and girls through increased participation in physical activity and sport. By creating safe, supportive, and inclusive environments, the charity will encourage healthy lifestyles, preventative health behaviours, and positive social connections, helping to reduce health inequalities experienced by women and girls while addressing social isolation and loneliness through engagement with the ice hockey community. (c)The Promotion of Equality and Diversity The HER Foundation Scotland will provide public benefit by advancing equality of opportunity for women and girls in ice hockey and related sporting activities. The charity will work to address discrimination, exclusion, and systemic barriers that affect participation, progression, and access to opportunities within the sport. Through its activities, the Foundation will promote fair and inclusive environments and support greater representation of women and girls in coaching, officiating, governance, and leadership roles. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that women and girls from all backgrounds can participate and thrive in ice hockey, including those from ethnic minority communities, disabled people, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals experiencing socio-economic disadvantage. By raising awareness of gender inequality in sport and advocating for positive cultural change, the charity will encourage more inclusive practices across all levels of participation and decision-making. It will also advocate for equitable access to facilities and opportunities, including the protection of ice time for women and girls and greater fairness in training, competition, officiating, and leadership pathways.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

From 30 June 2025, OSCR began collecting charity trustee information through OSCR Online. Providing this information is a legal requirement for all charities. The names of trustees will be published on the Scottish Charity Register from early 2026 to promote transparency and strengthen public trust in the sector.
