Clause 5 The Organisation's main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Organisation's Purposes are: Clause 5.1 To alleviate poverty among the residents of the Isle of Jura. Clause 5.2 To relieve the needs of those in the community who are disadvantaged by their rural isolation in ways that are charitable in law, including the young, unemployed, elderly, and those suffering from mental and/or physical disability, illness, or impairment. Clause 5.3 To provide, in the interests of social welfare, within the Isle of Jura, facilities for recreation and other leisure activities accessible to the public to enhance their quality of life. Clause 5.4 To promote training skills and opportunities of all kinds, especially those that will help residents on the Isle of Jura secure gainful employment. Clause 5.5 To promote, facilitate, and support other schemes and projects of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community within the Isle of Jura. Clause 5.6 To preserve, restore, and improve the environment in and around the Isle of Jura by providing, maintaining, and/or enhancing public open spaces and other amenities, as well as undertaking environmental and rural regeneration projects. In doing so, and where appropriate (while ensuring safeguards to clearly demonstrate that the public benefit outweighs any private advantage conferred on landowners), to carry out works of reclamation, remediation, restoration, and other operations to enable the use of land that has been restricted or prevented from use due to previous activities. From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.

Under section 23(1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, you have the right to request the following information directly from the charity:
