Object:

The objects of the Charity are the advancement of health and the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, and in furtherance of these purposes, the Charity will carry out, amongst other things, the following activities:- (a) (i) to provide and support innovative medical research, and other enhancement projects, in women's health, maternity, paediatric and neonatal healthcare for the betterment of quality, care and wellbeing of patients. (ii) to support the wellbeing of NHS staff through the development of new processes which will further enhance the NHS's ability to transform the health and wellbeing of the patients in their care. (b) to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expressions 'charitable purpose' or 'charitable object' shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a 'charitable institution' shall mean a charity in terms of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, or a charity under the law of any other jurisdiction which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, provided that nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity other than in furtherance of a charitable purpose.

The Charity is a grant-making organisation which generates the income needed to achieve our charitable objectives from a wide number of sources including fundraising, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations and also the establishment of robust commercial agreements. Hi’s commercial strategy enables ir to harness financial resources from pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and other healthcare-related industries and provide funding for ongoing paediatric research. The Trustee Board of Hi Scotland agree on challenges and moonshots based on a matrix covering patient/ carer /colleague impact locally & globally, cost savings for stakeholders, sustainability and global commerciality.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises. If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.
