The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science through the reconstruction of a classic late Victorian Steam Locomotive of the Highland Railway Company, working with Scottish and UK based companies to ensure the continuation of traditional construction and heritage industries within Scotland. 4.2 To advance education through highlighting the work required to build a working steam engine, to improve the public?s understanding of the various techniques employed by Victorian engineers in the construction; while also showing how modern systems have improved the processes from design, to finish product. This can also be used to show the social impact of these changes; how safety and the removal on hazardous materials have improved conditions for those working on these machines.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
To raise funds for the completion of a Highland Railway locomotive, scrapped in 1960s just after being marked for heritage preservation. The locomotive would then be "hired" by heritage railways around the UK to raise awareness of the skills and techniques necessary for the building of the locomotive, as well as increasing the skill pool by training additional personnel on the correct procedures in firing and driving a steam locomotive. Additional skill training would be available for training personnel on the maintenance and upkeep of the locomotive - all highly essential to preserve rapidly dwindling skills and talents due to the demographic of those trained in the skills necessary for building, using, and maintaining said locomotive.
