3.1 The company's objects ("Objects") are the following:- 3.1.1 the Company will promote, advance and further Charitable Purposes and activities through:- 3.1.1.1 facilitating the provision of 'space' (both physical and to explore ideas) for dance, movement and choreography; 3.1.1.2 fostering a community of artists to support ideas which contribute to the artistic and cultural landscape in Scotland (and beyond) through dance; 3.1.1.3 supporting artists in dance, movement and choreography to build capacity and skills to create a sustainable platform to develop their ideas and practice; 3.1.1.4 creating connections to/with other organisations and charities, particularly where there might otherwise be barriers for individual artists to build such relationships; and 3.1.1.5 the nurturing of ideas and practice in dance to ultimately support and enhance the public engagement and understanding of dance, movement and choreography. 3.2 In promoting, advancing and furthering Charitable Purposes and activities as detailed in article 3.1 the Company seeks to:- 3.2.1 support experimentation and choreographic research through a programme of supported, flexible and independent residencies; 3.2.2 foster an active, independent dance community through the facilitation of networking and professional development opportunities; 3.2.3 develop the sustainability and international capacity of our artist members through advice and practical support; and 3.2.4 be a powerful advocate for the independent dance sector. 3.3 For the purposes of the Charities Act the following Charitable Purposes are relevant and for the purposes of the Charities Act are the Charitable Purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the Charities Act:- 3.3.1 the advancement of the arts, heritage or culture; and 3.3.2 the advancement of education (in so far as further the arts, heritage or culture). 3.4 For the purposes of the Taxes Acts the provisions set out in clauses 3.1 - 3.2.1 shall be read together to ensure the Charitable Purposes of the company are compliant with the Taxes Act.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
