4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1. To establish a community Hub, in conjunction with other service providers. Identify issues and needs within the community. To develop and build strong relationships which will facilitate openness and collective action, in the journey to community empowerment, underpinned by Equality and Diversity. 4.2. To address the cross culture shock experienced by both native Scottish and new Scots (i.e. those not indigenous to Scotland) due to differences in family structures, cultures, beliefs and values. 4.3. To explore Scottish and African culture, family traditions, ties and practice from birth to grave. Retention of cultural identity, beliefs and values; through general storytelling, Arts/Crafts, cooking and sharing food, learning and language. 4.4. To raise awareness of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in challenging abuse against women, men and children. Particularly those from countries where the culture, religion, upbringing, beliefs, background and family ties discriminate against women and girls. 4.5. To integrate Ethnic Minorities and migrants into the local community through workshops and mentoring scheme, helping members to develop support networks and to build up their confidence. 4.6. To support the education of children and young people living in Glasgow, particularly Africans and Ethnic Minority through homework/afterschool club and other educational activities.

In 2024, we continued to support our members and community through person centred peer support, promoting social integration and providing practical, emotional and social support to asylum seeking families living in Southwest of Glasgow area and Assisted with social inclusion and integration through sightseeing hospitality and social events.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
