2. Objects The objects of the Charity (the "Objects") are: 2.1 To research, publish and distribute information in relation to, and to promote, publish and provide catalogues of paintings, sculptures and other works of art, including associating with museums, art galleries and organisations affiliated with art, in a common effort to advance and promote arts and education generally; 2.2 To encourage, assist, arrange and provide support for the restoration of paintings, sculptures and works of art held or owned by museums, art galleries and other bodies and organisations making works of art available to the public and to cooperate with, assist and support such museums, art galleries and other bodies in connection with the same; 2.3 To promote, maintain, improve and advance works of art and the arts in general for the benefit of the public, including the arts of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and design and to promote, maintain and advance public education and appreciation of, and public interest in, the arts generally; 2.4 To promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charities, including without limitation charitable museums, art galleries and other charitable organisations making works of art available to the public and the effective use of charitable resources in the arts sector; and 2.5 To carry out such other charitable objects which the trustees may consider to be ancillary or complimentary to any of the foregoing objects or which may be undertaken in connection or conjunction therewith or which are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the foregoing.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
