The purpose of the organisation is to provide recreational facilities and advance the social needs, health and well being of men of all ages and backgrounds living in Broughty Ferry and surrounding areas By: a) Creating, developing and maintaining a facility, namely a Men's Shed. b) Offering opportunities for men in the Broughty Ferry area to meet and undertake creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice c) Reducing isolation of men in the area thus contributing to their physical and mental wellbeing. d) Developing the capacity of men in the Broughty Ferry area to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
The principal purpose for the Men's Shed is to provide an option for the men in our area to meet with other men for the purpose of companionship and to share experiences and knowledge. There is no strong expectation placed on anyone and people can get as much or as little from the experience as they wish. We provide workshop facilities to have a less formal environment for the meetings but these also give a financial support as we are able to raise our funding to allow us to support our group. We have no external grant funding and are wholly self reliant. In parallel we provide a support to other members of our community - schools, nurseries, other charities and individuals (often elderly)

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
