4 The organisation's purposes are focused on children and young people, with a number of interlocking strands: to offer them learning opportunities in personal, moral and social education, which would include work in schools and in pupils' free time to offer them opportunities for Christian discipleship and spiritual growth to attend to their physical needs and to their mental well-being through their years of growing up, both through family life and as they are individuals to promote ways in which children and young people may support one another and put something into the wider community to include fun and recreation as an integral part of the outreach of Young Crown while upholding Christian faith in its fullness, to uphold equally the need for good co-existence with those of different persuasion. What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
Young Crown aims to expose as many children, young people and their families as possible to the Christian faith, focusing on the teachings of Jesus and their significance in all stages of life. It seeks to nurture the faith of those who voluntarily engage further and emphasizes living to serve, bless, and care for one another with humility, respect, and generosity. The project's origins trace back to Crown Church's Kirk Session on October 1, 2014, which commissioned a group to explore the creation of a youth or young families worker position. In January 2015, a significant portion of the Crown Kirk Session's day conference focused on the group's findings, with insights from a guest youth worker. Financial pledges from the congregation and a 'Giving Day' event helped fund the initiative. The consensus was that the Kirk Session should not be the employing agency to ensure the vision's commitment, outreach effectiveness, and management. Consequently, "Young Crown SCIO" was establish

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
