To promote responsible dog ownership and humane behaviour towards SBTs/SBTxs by educating members of the public through our online platforms (website, Facebook, Twitter) and community events. To relieve the social burden of overbreeding of SBT/SBTx by promoting the benefits of spaying and neutering of dogs and offering help and support to the public in accessing affordable veterinary services for this purpose. To reduce the number of stray/missing dogs by promoting the benefits of microchipping dogs for identification purposes, the importance of updating data held on the chip when changes occur, and assisting various agencies involved in the re-unification of missing/stolen dogs, so that information on a dogs whereabouts can be made available nationwide. To provide members of the public looking to re-home a rescue dog with a dog that has received all necessary veterinary treatment, been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and been assessed for temperament whilst in kennels/foster, before being rehomed. To provide lifetime back up to the owners of dogs rehomed by SSR, this includes taking dogs back into our care due to changes in owner circumstances should they be unable to continue to look after their dog, or due to welfare concerns. Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From January 2026, OSCR will begin publishing annual reports and accounts in full online once they are received. This marks a change from the current approach, where OSCR publishes accounts for certain charities, depending on their legal form and income, with personal details redacted.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
