The purposes of the Trust shall, so far, and so far only, as the Game are legally charitable in Scotland, be the provision of public benefit in Scotland and elsewhere through: - (1) the advancement of education, (2) the advancement of health, (3) the advancement of citizenship or community development, (4) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science, (5) the advancement of public participation in sport, (6) the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended, and (7) the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability., financial hardship or other disadvantage. In implementing the purposes of the Trust, the Trustees shall have particular regard to encouraging and supporting or mentoring young people with a burning wish to improve their own or their fellow's position. In so doing there will be an emphasis placed on entrepreneurial flair with a commercial appreciation, as well as an outgoing character and determination to succeed against poor economic or social background. Special applications of clever design or pragmatic adaptations based on a practical study of problems, and excellence in a selected training course or higher education degree will be considered prior to any award being made.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
