EAHRNK is primarily established for the advancement of human rights (under Section 7(2) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005). Our understanding of andactivities related to the advancement of human rights will be based upon the standards for human rights laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are established: To advance human rights in North Korea by raising awareness in Europe of human rights violations and crimes against humanity that occur within North Korea. To advance human rights by encouraging European governments and the European Union to support projects that objectively study North Korean society and human rights abuses. To prevent poverty by supporting economic, trade and aid initiatives which are focuseddirectly at North Korean citizens. To advance human rights by supporting mechanisms of inquiry into crimes against humanity in North Korea. To advance human rights by encouraging the European Union and European governmentsto make clearer their condemnation of human rights abuses in North Korea. To advance human rights by encouraging the media to report more responsibly on NorthKorea. Better understanding of North Korea will ensure that better policies can be created. To advance human rights by providing a platform for North Korean refugees to have theirvoices heard on the situation in North Korea. To advance human rights by developing new strategies, policies, and ideas for Europeangovernments to use in order to improve human rights and humanitarian conditions.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
