The objects of the Trust shall be (a) The relief of those in need by financial assistance to members of the ASFA who have suffered incapacity through injury or illness sustained or incurred in the course of their business or employment in the fishing Industry or while going to the aid of vessels or persons in peril on the sea. (b) The relief of those in need by financial assistance in cases of relatives and dependents of members of the ASFA who have lost their lives at sea or as a result of injury or illness sustained in the course of their business or employment in the fishing Industry or while going to the aid of vessels or persons in peril on the sea. (c) The relief of those in need by financial assistance in cases of the dependents of members of the ASFA following the death of a member of the said Association who had not attained state retirement pension age or having attained the said age was still actively engaged as a fisherman and where the applicants for assistance do not qualify for benefit under clause (b) and to assist in case of need members of the ASFA who may have suffered incapacity in circumstance where they do not qualify under clause (b). (d) The relief of those in need by financial assistance in cases of persons who have suffered incapacity while rendering assistance at sea or in the case of death to assist their dependants. (e) The relief of those in need by financial assistance in cases of members of the ASFA, their dependents and relatives in circumstances considered by the Trustees to be worthy.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
