To relieve the needs of people with mental health problems; and in particular: 1. To provide advocacy services to patients of The State Hospital, Carstairs and such other people with mental health problems as the directors may deem appropriate; 2. To promote the interests of people with mental health problems, and particularly those who are accessing advocacy support; and 3. What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
The charity's objective and principal activity is to provide an independent advocacy service that works with individuals who are detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003, in The State Hospital. There main role is to provide support to individuals to make sure their voice is heard by attending case reviews, mental health tribunals and parole boards. Outside of this, they also support patients in all aspects of what they feel is important to them. This could be contacting a solicitor, putting in a complaint or finding out information for them.

    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
