2.1 This Article shall be interpreted as if it incorporated an over-riding qualification to the effect that in any case in which an activity permitted under this Article is in its nature capable of being carried on for purposes which are not charitable, or only partially so, as well as for purposes which are wholly charitable, the word "charitable" having the meaning ascribed to It for the purposes of Section 505 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988, and also the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, including any statutory amendment or re-enactment for the time being in force (which meaning shall be assigned to the word "charitable" where it appears in these Articles), the powers of the Company under this Article in respect of the carrying on of such activity shall be deemed to be limited to the carrying on of such activity in such manner as will not prejudice the charitable status of the Company under the statutory provisions referred to above 2.2 Subject to that over-riding qualification, the objects for which the Company is established are:- For the benefit of the people of Scotland and of the United Kingdom as a whole: a) to enrol and operate as an environmental body pursuant to the Finance Act 1996 (as such statute may be amended from time to time); b) to collect, manage and distribute funding derived from landfill tax credits from Contributors and from other environmental bodies or otherwise for: i) the provision, maintenance or improvement of public amenities and other recreational facilities for the purposes of enhancing and improving the quality of life and health for the public and communities, Including the provision of funding for organisations providing facilities for all social groups which advance the quality of community life; ii) the advancement of community development by funding and encouraging further funding of the protection of heritage and the preservation of historic land, buildings and sites of local, national or international importance; Maximum text reached, further full information can be obtained directly from the charity

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
