The objects for which the Company is established are, either acting alone or in Company with others and in such manner as the Company shall determine, to support the life of babies in distress at or in the period prior to birth or born prematurely or sick to increase the likelihood of their survival and to ensure that such babies have the best quality of life possible, and for this purpose to: (a) promote, fund and advance innovations in neonatal care; (b) provide support, information, training and funding for the parents, families and carers of babies born prematurely or sick; (c) campaign for improvements in neonatal services and on issues related to the health and welfare of babies born prematurely or sick and their parents, families and carers; (d) procure, provide and maintain medical and other equipment and services and funds for the training of staff in operating such equipment and providing such services; and (e) undertake, promote, fund and advance research into the causes of such distress and related matters, the premature birth of babies and issues relating to the health and welfare of babies born prematurely or sick and to disseminate the results of such research to the public at large.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
