The Trustees shall hold and apply the sum of £1 paid by us to them, and such other funds and assets as may fiom time to time be comprised in the Trust Property, in trust for the following purposes:- To advance education and in particular to assist young people aged 21 or under who are no longer in full time school education (and primarily those resident at the time of award within the area delineated on the map annexed to this Trust Deed and who for no less than three years prior to the time of award attended Wester Hailes Education Centre, St. Augustineys High School or the cluster primary schools within Wester Hailes Education Centre catchment area) to gain further/higher educational qualifications, by providing grants to help meet the cost of books andlor other educational materials, fees and/or living expenses; And such that (a) a young person who would otherwise be eligible, shall not be debarred fiom consideration for a grant from the Trust by reason only of the fact that he/she had not lived within the area referred to above for three years prior to the time of award if his/her absence for a period or periods from that area was due to circumstances which are considered by the Trustees to have been outwith his/her control or if the Trustees consider that such absence ought reasonably to be disregarded for some other reason in determining eligibility for support (b) any financial support provided by the Trust should be for the duration of the applicant's first further/higher education course unless exceptional circumstances apply. The expenses of creating and administering the Trust, and any tax payable in relation to the Trust, shall be met in priority to all other payments and transfers of assets out of the Trust Property.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
