To advance education in the study of all aspects of the physical constitution of the earth; of its physical environment, its ecology and its eco-systems, of its wildlife and plants, and of natural history and the natural sciences, for the benefit of the community in the area of the Island of Arran and elsewhere and in furtherance of that: (i) to devise, operate and develop appropriate projects, courses of field study, programmes and other undertakings for the provision of education in the foregoing matters for people by such other means, methods and mechanisms as the Company may consider to be appropriate which educational projects, courses and programmes may be undertaken on the Island of Arran or elsewhere; (ii) to assist and support people to develop their knowledge and education in the foregoing matters and to provide experience and insights into such matters; (iii) to pursue appropriate educational development strategies in pursuit of the aims of the Company; (iv) to provide, in conjunction with other agencies and professionals appropriate financial assistance and support for people following projects, courses of study and programmes devised, operated and developed by the Company; (v) to enlist and organise volunteers to assist in the said projects, courses of study and programmes; (vi) to provide, where appropriate, accreditation schemes for persons pursuing the projects, courses of study and programmes devised, operated and developed by the Company; (vii) to work with and cooperate with other relevant individuals, companies, bodies, institutions and agencies in the pursuit of the Company's arts educational objectives.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
At the heart of the charity is the Eas Mor Ecology centre with associated facilities such as waterfall, library, cafe and Hydro power plant. Eas Mor charity works in association with its sister trading company Eas Mor H20 Ecology Ltd (SC504822), which runs the centre and all operations on behalf of the charity with all profits from the trading company gift-aided back to the charity. The focal point of the charity is sustainable energy, promotion of the eco systems and education of natural history and sciences.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
