4.1 The objects of the Council are:- (a). to relieve poverty and unemployment among the residents of North Yell, as defined by the postcode units ZE2 9DQ, ZE2 9DG, ZE2 9DF, ZE2 9DE, ZE2 9DD, ZE2 9BZ and ZE2 9BB (“the Community”); (b). to advance education among the residents of the Community, particularly among young people and the unemployed; (c). to promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, particularly such skills as will assist residents of the Community in obtaining paid employment; (d). to promote, establish and operate other schemes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the Community; (e). to advance community development, which will include the promotion and development of trade and industry in the Community; and (f). to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expressions ‘charitable purpose’ or ‘charitable object’ shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a ‘charitable institution’ shall mean a charity in terms of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, or a charity under the law of any other jurisdiction which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, provided that nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Council other than in furtherance of a charitable purpose.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
North Yell Development Council is a community development group with membership open to residents in our geographic area. Consutation in our area is undertaken to determine community priorities and produce a community development plan. The group own a windfarm through a subsiduary company, with profits passed back to NYDC. The profits are used to impliment the development plan and so provide benefit to the community. The group also earns income from infrastructure provided to promote economic development. This includes a marina and business park.

We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals.
