(1) To protect and preserve for the benefit of the general public the natural environment within Argyll, and the islands which lie within the operating area of Argyll and the Islands Enterprise (or any successor local enterprise company) (Argyll and such islands being together referred to as "the Operating Area") and in doing so, to seek wherever appropriate (but subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure that the public benefit so arising clearly outweighs any private benefit thereby conferred on private landowners) to carry out works of reclamation, remediation, restoration and other operations to facilitate the use of land whose use has been prevented or restricted because of previous use. (2) To conserve and protect for the public benefit the wildlife within the Operating Area, and in particular to protect biodiversity. (3) To advance education and, in particular, with regard to the social, archaeological and scenic heritage of the Operating Area, the wildlife and natural environment of the Operating Area (including the marine environment around the Operating Area) and land and countryside management within the Operating Area. (4) To provide, maintain and/or improve public footpaths, nature reserves, community woodlands, public parks and/or other public amenities within the Operating Area. (5) To promote for the public benefit the preservation (whether wholly or in part) of buildings and other structures of historical and/ =or architectural significance within the Operating Area. (6) To promote and/or support other charitable projects and programmes for the benefit of the Operating Area.

    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
