Objects 4 The company’s objects are: (a) The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage (b) The prevention or relief of poverty. (c) The promotion of equality and diversity and (d) The advancement of health, arts, and culture, and (e) The advancement of citizenship or community development and education The objects of the company are principally to benefit the Community of Paisley North comprising the postcodes PA3 2 (“the Community”), in addition to which it is desirable and expected that there will be public benefit in Renfrewshire, more widely and beyond and they will be achieved through the provision of (amongst other things) a diverse programme of services, support and creative activities, conducive to Community Development that will support individuals and families, without distinction of the protected characteristics of The Equalities Act, or of political, or other opinions, in Renfrewshire and beyond and; (f) To promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expressions ‘charitable purpose’ or ‘charitable object’ shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a ‘charitable institution’ shall mean a charity in terms of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, or a charity under the law of any other jurisdiction which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, provided that nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Company other than in furtherance of a charitable purpose. 5 The company’s objects are restricted to those set out in article 4 (but subject to article 6). 6 The company may (subject to first obtaining the consent of OSCR) add to, remove or alter the statement of the company’s objects in article 4; on any occasion when it does so, it must give notice to the registrar of companies and the amendment will not be effective until that notice is registered on the register of companies.

The STAR Project (est. 1999) is an award-winning community organisation that delivers long lasting positive social outcomes, building safer, more connected and resilient communities in Renfrewshire. Our current strategy, Community Matters 2, focuses on the themes of Wellbeing, Connections and Creativity, tackling the impacts, and the associated stigma, of poverty and deprivation prevalent in our communities through a systemic approach to building resilience. STAR Project has a solid track record of positive impact across vulnerable or disengaged individuals, families facing disadvantage and likely poor outcomes. Based in the heart of Paisley’s North End, where individuals and families face well documented challenges, we facilitate opportunity and aspiration, boost life chances, engender community ownership and celebrate every success.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises. If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

From 30 June 2025, OSCR began collecting charity trustee information through OSCR Online. Providing this information is a legal requirement for all charities.
