What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
The charity helps young people in Scotland to develop their own talents so they can build confidence in themselves, break down barriers between each other and contribute to the community in which they live. The charity was inspired by the life of Mark Scott who was murdered in 1995 in an unprovoked sectarian attack. The charity supports young people to participate in The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award "The Award" a programme which is delivered by The Outward Bound Trust a registered charity. The Award is a unique combination of residential outdoor learning and urban based community project work over a period of 5 to 6 months. 50% of participants are from the 30% most deprived communities in Scotland. In April 2026 the charity expect to celebrate the 4,000th young person to achieve The Award.. In the year ended 31 July 2025.The charity paid The Outward Bound Trust £58,000 to enable young people to take part in The Award..

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
