What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
MELD aims to provide locally accessible, comprehensive and non-judgemental services to reduce substance use related harm to individuals, families and the wider community across East Lothian and Midlothian. • Confidential advice, information and a counselling-skills approach for substance users, their families and friends • A comprehensive assessment in order to determine individual needs • Training on substance use related issues for community groups, local workers and agencies We provide a dedicated phone line that all individuals and carers affected by substance misuse can directly refer into our service. We work in partnership with NHS services to triage referrals so that individuals receive the correct support or are signposted onto another relevant service. Other professionals can also make referrals on someone's behalf. MELD offer a range of support including one to one support and group work and also includes peer support, family support and complementary therapies.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry.     (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
