The purposes of the Trust are: The Trustees shall accept and acquire such corporeal moveables, whether historically connected with Clan Menzies or with the districts associated with Clan Menzies or otherwise, as they consider to be of educational interest or for other public benefit, consistent with the charitable purposes of the Deed. The Trustees shall restore and maintain the Castle, with the advice of Historic Scotland and other associations or bodies in order to preserve it as an important example of the fortified domestic architecture of Scotland, and restore and maintain other appropriate property owned or acquired by the Trustees or otherwise owned provided that the restoration and maintenance is for the benefit of the public; And the Trustees shall open an Account in their names or the names of not less than any two of them and the amounts deposited therein shall be payable only in the furtherance of the objects of this Purpose. The Trustees shall assist in the provision and maintenance of a museum at Castle Menzies for the purpose of educating members of the public in the history of the locality and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing in the history of Clan Menzies. The Trustees shall do such other acts as are consistent with the charitable objects of this Trust and which relate to the history of Clan Menzies.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
