The Objectives of Govanhill Youth Project shall be to promote the benefit of the youth in the Govanhill area and in particular unattached and at risk young people in the 12 - 20 year range by associating the local and statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance the education, relieve poverty and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time activities so that the conditions of life of the aforementioned young people will be improved. In furtherance thereof: (i) To liaise with, identify and assist in meeting the needs of unattached and at risk young people in the 12 - 20 years range. (ii) To liaise with existing youth facilities and establish corporate working as appropriate. (iii) To encourage young people to become involved in active decision making and change in respect of their lives in the Govanhill Area. (iv) Using detached work model to make contact with young people not presently using existing youth facilities. (v) The establish structures which will allow local involvement in management and policy making, issues, direction and target grouping of the project. (vi) GYP should pursue strategies that build positive tolerant and co-operative attitudes among young people of all races.
