The fund shall be applied by the Trustees for the provision at any school approved by the Trustees of a number of foundation pupils which shall be the primary object of the Fund. Without prejudice to the said generality, the trustees may apply and employ the Fund (both capital and income for all or any of the following purposes, that is to say – (a) in conferring the benefits of foundation pupilage upon fatherless and/or motherless children desirous of becoming pupils at any such school by making grants to and entering into such arrangements with the Governing Body of any such school as may be necessary to enable the primary object of the Fund to be achieved. The Trustees may attach such conditions as they think proper or expedient to the provision of grants under this section. The pupils upon whom the benefits of foundation pupilage have been conferred under this section and hereinafter referred to as “foundation pupils". (b) in making grants to the Governing Body of any such school for the maintenance, clothing and upbringing as boarders at or in connection with any such school of foundation pupils.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
