The advancement of religion; For the benefit of natives of Cupar and of the immediate neighbourhood at the time residing there and of persons who have resided there for the greater part of their lives and who are deserving indigent men and women over sixty years of age or are in delicate health, it being hereby directed that those suffering from blindness or deafness or physical defect shall have a preference. To provide suitable clothing and substantial food and to give privately small pensions to respectable women who are striving to support themselves and who are deserving of such aid.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
Cupar Old Parish Church was initially set up to provide Presbyterian education to the natives of Cupar and this has evolved through the ages where ,whilst religion is still at the forefront of our activities ,it has now become much more community based since our hall was renovated 10 years ago and whilst we seek payment for commercial rents we make the hall available for other charities at little or no charge. at all.. Many of the charities-and a number of others appreciate that "religion is not an essential to hire our hall and we have seen a trickle of those who attend these classes now attend Worship services and become in the wider work of the Church

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
