The Society hereby declares the objective of the Trust to be:- (a) The financial support of the Society and in particular and without prejudice to the foregoing generality provision for the maintenance of the Society's premises, its historical library and furnishings and equipment and also for assistance in meeting its secretarial expenses and promoting symposia, lectures and other such meetings of educational value, by means of annual grants which should not exceed a percentage, to be determined as hereinafter provided, of the total annual income received by the Society from its members' subscriptions, declaring that the percentage shall be determined annually by the Trustees within four months of their receiving copies or the Society's Accounts, and the Sum allocated, which shall not exceed three-quarters or the Trust's total income save in cases where the Trustees are satisfied that exceptional expenditure is required to safeguard the fabric or the Society' s promises, shall be paid out by the Trust's Treasurers or Treasurer as soon as practicable thereafter (b) The financing or assisting in the financing of visits of members of the Society to other medical centres elsewhere in the United Kingdom or abroad for educational purposes (c) The provision or travelling scholarships to be awarded at the Trustees' discretion on merit to members or the Society to enable them to broaden their educational experience elsewhere in the United Kingdom or abroad, it being an essential requirement that any member awarded such a scholarship will be required to submit a written report to the Trustees on the experience gained.

    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
