The objects of the Company are to: (a) The relief of women, children and young people who have experienced or are in fear of domestic abuse perpetrated by partners or ex-partners by: (i) the provision of temporary refuge accommodation; (ii) providing support and information on access to other services; (iii) providing structured supportive opportunities to allow service users to make choices for their future ; (iv) liaising with other services, including the police, and (v) advocating for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse within legal and other protection services. (b) The advancement of education by raising awareness of the effects of domestic abuse with the public and with young people in particular and providing opportunities for women, children and young people to shape the development of services, policy and practice at a strategic level. (c) The promotion of equality and diversity by: upholding and promoting the rights of all women, children and young people regardless of race, colour, disability, sexual orientation, age, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status, race, language, national or social origin; who have experience of domestic abuse in the belief that violence against women is symptomatic of wider structural inequalities in society , and thus mainly perpetrated by men .

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
