The Trust Purposes shall be (a) To purchase pictures of local interest to Helensburgh and Dunbartonshire and thereafter to donate said pictures to the Anderson (Local Collection) Trust (conform to Deed of Trust registered in the Books of Council and Session on Twenty third October Nineteen hundred and Eighty one) Declaring (First) that before deciding on a purchase the Trustees shall ascertain that the picture to be purchased shall be acceptable, to the Anderson (Local Collection) Trustees and (Second) that the term "of local interest" shall comprehend both pictures by local artists, and also pictures representing local scenes or subjects whether by local artists or not;(b) To provide, as may be from time to time expedient or desirable for reproduction of pictures owned by the Anderson (Local Collection) Trustees for resale by themselves or by the Anderson (Local Collection) Trustees or by any other person or body nominated by them or for any other purpose; (c) To provide for the preparation and printing of catalogues, indexes or commentaries relating to pictures belonging to the Anderson (Local Collection) Trustees; (d) To assist, where the Trustees consider it to be necessary, the Anderson (Local Collection) Trustees in arranging for public display of the pictures in terms of the said Deed of Trust registered the Books of Council and Session as aforesaid; (e) To arrange from time to time or to assist in arranging, as may be expedient, competitions involving pictures of local interest as hereinbefore defined, and generally to do anything which may serve to improve the Anderson Local Collection and facilitate its exhibition and use.

What the charity is set up to do and how it does this:
The Trust was created by Deed of Trust by Dr. John C. Anderson and Mr William F.T. Anderson dated 20th September and subsequent dates in the year 1984 and registered in the Books of Council and Session on 8 February 1985 to provide a fund to enable the purchase of pictures to add to the collection belonging to the Anderson (Local Collection) Trust (Registered SC0 08509), to facilitate exhibition of the collection and to maintain the pictures in the collection in good condition, as well as other purposes relating to the collection which is of works of local interest to Helensburgh and District including areas of the former county of Dumbartonshire, whether of local subjects or local artists. The funds of the Trust are invested and only funds credited to the Income Account of the Trust can be applied for Trust purposes.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals.
