The Company's objects are to advance art, culture and heritage for the benefit of artists and the public. Its primary focus is to advance and elevate the art of printmaking by providing specialist support and creative inspiration across a wide range of printmaking practices and techniques. The Company will also facilitate the creative and professional development of a diverse and inclusive community of artists by providing workshop, studio and gallery facilities. In addition, the Company will maintain, develop, promote and care for its Permanent Collection (the Collection) of prints and print-related artefacts.

Established in 1967, Edinburgh Printmakers was the first open access print studio in the UK. We are now one of the largest in the world. We play a leading role in connecting studios, workshops, and creative spaces nationally and internationally, enabling high-quality making and social enterprise. As highly skilled printmakers, contemporary art researchers, producers, curators, and educators, we are a key agent in the cultural life of Scotland and its capital city. We receive multiyear funding from Creative Scotland and strategic partnership funding from the City of Edinburgh Council. Our vision is to help shape a better world through widening access to printmaking and the arts. Our mission is to support diverse artists and communities to contribute to the cultural life of the nation via world-class facilities, access to national and international networks and exceptional models of support. We operate studios in Edinburgh and across Scotland.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
