The Saltire Society is one of Scotland’s leading supporters of culture. For almost 90 years we have been committed to Scottish innovation and creativity, from social housing design and literature to public art and emerging creatives. The Saltire Society upholds its founding principles of inspiring culture and platforming responsible debate for contemporary Scotland. The Society has a broad international outlook and is not affiliated with any political party. Our awards programme includes: The Saltires - Scotland’s National Book Awards and the Fletcher of Saltoun Awards, rewarding the contributions of individuals working in Arts and Humanities, Science, and Public Life. We host regular events at branches throughout Scotland and an annual Fletcher of Saltoun Lecture and support the work of other organisations.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry.   • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
