The objects for which the Association is established are:- (a) To promote the study of the laws of health, to disseminate practical instruction relating thereto, and to advocate and practise the use of rational and physiological methods in the treatment of the sick. (b) To establish and maintain Medical Missions, Hospitals, Sanitoria, Hydropathic Institutions, Convalescent Homes, Nursing or Residential Care Homes for the Reception and Care of Persons of either sex who are suffering from any illness of disability by providing medical or other treatment and attention for such patients in their own homes, or villages, Institutions for the Training of Physicians, Nurses and other classes of Agents for the promotion of the Objects of the Association; Hygienic Restaurants, Depots for Health Foods & Health Literature, Soup Kitchens, Dispenseries, Schools, and such other Institutions as may be needed for the proper carrying on of the work of the Association and to defray all or any of the expenses incurred thereby. (c) To carry on such charitable and philanthropic work, in connection with the institutions mentioned in section b, as may be decided upon by the Association, to defray the expenses of such work, and to raise funds by any legitimate means for the purpose of enabling the Association to carry on such charitable work. (d) To print, publish, manufacture, sell, distribute, advertise and deal in books, tracts, pamphlets, periodicals, papers, goods, health foods, hygienic clothing, medical supplies, and materials of all kinds, which may be useful or suitable for use in connection with any of the objects of the Association. (e) To engage, employ and remunerate doctors, physicians, surgeons, matrons, nurses, medical staff, home helps, domestic and ancillary staff, counsellors, social workers and qualified and unqualified staff of all kinds to attend, assist, counsel, advise, nurse, care for, train and educate patients or residents and to employ, engage and remunerate...

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
