SECOND The said bequest and any further sums received by the Trustees shall be used and may, in the sole discretion of the Trustees, be exhausted, both as regards capital and income for the purpose of perpetuating the name, tradition and example of the 51st Highland Division and its achievements in the World Wars of 1914/1918 and 1939/1945 in accordance with the following powers :- (1) The erection of such memorials including the creation and maintenance of a website or other means of electronic dissemination of information in Scotland, or elsewhere, as the Trustees may consider to be advisable. (2) To make grants to the Highland Division Trust Fund established in terms of the Deed of Declaration of Trust by Colonel Colin MacLeod Robertson, C.B., D.S.O., T.D., and others dated 3rd September 1943 and subsequent dates for the benefit of the officers, non-commissioned officers and men who served in the 51st Highland Division during the 1939/1945 War and their dependents. (3) To help officers, non-commissioned officers ... men and women who have served with the Highland Division or with such of the successor military formations to the 51st Highland Division as the Trustees in their sole discretion decide and their dependents and who find themselves in adverse circumstances. (4) To give financial help to the 51st Highland Volunteers who are now the only Unit in the British Army which can be regarded as successors to the 51st Highland Division, and to help officers, non-commissioned officers and men who are serving or who have served in the 51st Highland Volunteers or with such of the successor military formations to the 51st Highland Volunteers as the Trustees in their sole discretion decide and their dependents and who find themselves in adverse circumstances. (5) To give financial help to any of the Highland Regiments and other Regiments or Corps which have been associated with the Highland Division and to the affiliated institutions, such as Regimental Museums or Regimental Associations, of such Highland Regiments and other Regiments and Corps. (6) To give financial help in other ways or to take such other action as the Trustees shall think fit and appropriate in order to carry out the purposes for which this Trust is being established as stated above. (7) The Trustees shall carry out the above purposes in such manner and at such time or times as they, in their sole discretion, shall think fit and appropriate.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.
