The free annual income thereof from time to time shall be applied in defraying wholly or partially, the cost of such surgical and/or medical treatment required in Nursing Homes or Institutions, or the cost of treatment or charges for convalescence in any Convalescent, Holiday or other Homes, of such males/and females, irrespective of age, who have, either been wounded or whose health has been in any way affected as a result of military, naval, or air force service or service in any capacity whatever, combatant or non-combatant, whether under the Government or Local Authority or otherwise, so long as such war affection or incapacity has been sustained during or occasioned by or is the result of service in any sphere which is the sole and uncontrolled discretion of the Ethel Wighton Trusteees may be considered ?as having contributed to the national interests in the War which commenced in Nineteen Hundered and thirty one, or who are the widows or children of any such persons before mentioned, and who are living within the district aftermentioned, and such free annual income or any part thereof may also be applied in assisting any such persons before mentioned who may be in need of financial assistance of any kind whatever, and that all at such time or times, and in such way and manner, and subject to the conditions and provisions hereinbefore or after obtained.

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
