The Trustees shall hold and apply the Trust Fund for such purposes as are embraced within the meaning of the word "charitable" according to Scots Law and as the Trustees may within the group of such charitable purposes select from time to time and providing always but without prejudice to that generality and without imposing any moral or other obligation on my Trustees or in any way fettering the sole and absolute discretion which they have for application of the Trust Fund I record for the information of my Trustees that I am particularly interested in the "Abbeyfield" movement and that the prime use to which I would like to see the Fund used, both as to capital and income, is for the furtherance of that movement in Dunfermline by the provision of "Abbeyfield" type of accommodation and facilities for the relief and care of elderly persons of all classes suffering from the disabilities of old age or otherwise being in need including the provision of residential accommodation by building, converting, renovating and improving property as also the provision of furniture, furnishings and equipment therefor, and in particular the application of the Fund to any enterprise of the aforementioned Abbeyfield Dunfermline Society Limited;

Charity accounts and constitution – what information do we publish?

From April 2016 we began to publish charities’ accounts, initially for those charities with an annual income of £25,000 or more, and for all SCIOs.

When a charity publishes its accounts on its website and has supplied us with a link, we have made this available. From late 2017, where the charity is a company, a registered social landlord or is also registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, a link is provided to the relevant regulator’s website where the accounts are made available. We accept no responsibility for the functionality, accuracy, or content of external websites – if you experience a technical issue with an external link, you should contact the charity directly.

You have the right to the following information under section 23 (1)(a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, from the charity direct:

  • a copy of the charity’s latest statement of accounts
  • a copy of the charity’s constitution.

In addition to the above, a charity may also be able to provide you with previous years’ accounts and constitutions, although it is not obliged to do so. You can contact the charity to request this information using the contact details on the charity’s Register entry.
