4. The objects of the Company are to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community in the Civil Parish of Eskdalemuir (referred, to as "the Community") and in particular: 4.1 To promote sustainable development within the Community, where 'sustainable development' means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, and which protects or improves the natural environment. 4.2 To provide recreational facilities and organise recreational activities in the interests of social welfare, available to members of the Community arid the public at large, with the object of improving their conditions of life. 4.3 To advance environmental protection or improvement through the maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities and through the preservation of buildings and sites of historic, architectural or other importance to the Community. 4.4 To advance education and in particular to promote opportunities for learning, for the benefit of members of the Community and the general public. 4.5 To advance education through the promotion of the arts and culture. 4.6 To relieve poverty through the provision of training or retraining, particularly amongst unemployed people in the Community, and through the provision of skills and work experience which will assist in obtaining employment. 4.7 To promote and protect the wellbeing and physical health of the members of the Community. 4.8 To provide or assist in the provision of housing for people in necessitous circumstances within the Community, provided that such power shall not extend to relieving any local authorities or other bodies of a statutory duty' to; provide or improve housing."

We operate a hub that serves the local community. The community can access share space, a cafe and we provide a shop where local artists etc can sell their goods. We hold events for the local community and operate a licenced bar.

From 09 March 2026, OSCR is required by law to publish the names of a charity’s trustees as part of its Scottish Charity Register entry. We are also required to publish each charity’s annual report and accounts as received from this date, which may include the names of certain individuals. The only exceptions to publication are where a charity or one of its charity trustees applies for this information to be excluded, and OSCR is satisfied that publishing it would jeopardise the safety or security of a person or premises.

If the charity trustee information on a Register entry appears blank, this may mean that an exemption applies or that the charity has not yet provided the required details to OSCR. Supplying this information will become mandatory as part of future annual submissions.

The Scottish Charity Register contains key information about a charity’s operations and finances. This includes:

  • the names of a charity’s trustees (exemptions apply)
  • its annual report and full accounts, if submitted after 9 March 2026
    (Accounts submitted prior to 9 March 2026 will be redacted, or may not be published, depending on the charity’s income level or legal form.)

These changes are designed to improve transparency across the charity sector in Scotland.
