OSCR is an Investor in People
16 April 2007
Scotland's charity regulator has been accredited with the Investors in People Standard, the recognised benchmark for quality employers.
The accreditation is key evidence of OSCR's commitment in its Corporate Plan to be seen as an employer of choice. OSCR's Chief Executive Jane Ryder, said that the Regulator was delighted to gain the standard so early on in its development.
'This is a significant achievement in our first year and demonstrates both the commitment of OSCR's staff and the quality of processes we have in place to encourage involvement and development,' she said.
'From the outset we have been, and remain, committed to the principle of success through our people,' she added. 'Our Head of Resource Management, Judith Hayhow, has led the development process ensuring that we are committed corporately to a culture of knowledge management which we facilitate through all staff meetings and through staff and Board liaison.
'This news is evidence that what we are doing works, and that we are meeting our stated values.'
OSCR's draft Corporate Plan commits the Regulator to being 'an employer of choice' and maintaining a culture of excellence in staff management and development.
The Investors in People Standard is based on three key principles:
Plan - developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation
Do - taking action to improve the performance of the organisation
Review - evaluating the impact on the performance of the organisation.
Over 30,000 UK organisations are recognised as Investors in People, covering 27 per cent of the UK workforce.
