Charity Regulator Forum

The Charity Regulators' Forum reflects the independence of the role of the UK and Irish charity regulators, and is intended to provide a flexible vehicle for keeping pace with the changing demands of regulating the charity sector.
The Forum's overall objectives are to:
  • encourage co-ordination of and consistency in regulatory approaches in the UK and Ireland, accepting that regulators work within different legislative frameworks
  • share information and best practice on charity regulation
  • encourage effective working relationships between the devolved administrations responsible for the regulation of charities.
The Forum's members will aim to achieve this by:
  • identifying areas of development and difference
  • acting as a sounding board for new developments
  • discussing and identifying common principles
  • making practical decisions as appropriate
  • agreeing appropriate areas for common advice
  • referring operational matters to staff as required.
Membership of the Forum includes:
  • The Charity Commission for England and Wales
  • The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)
  • The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland
  • Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Ireland.
The Forum works with other organisations on cross-cutting issues.
