Equalities
Section 8 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 sets out that 'OSCR must perform its functions in manner that encourages equal opportunities and in particular the observance of the equal opportunity requirements'.
OSCR also has a responsibility as a public authority, where we have a duty to promote race, disability and gender equality.
How will OSCR do this?
OSCR published its Equalities Strategy in May 2007. The aim of this strategy is to mainstream equalities into our policy decision-making, service delivery and regulatory functions and includes an action plan with key outcome criteria set out.
How was this developed?
OSCR established an Equalities Reference Group which met three times in 2006-07 to inform the development of the strategy. For information on the membership and remit click here.
All minutes from these meetings are published here.
